Farewell to Rob Way

Rob Way, who died in June 2025 from cancer, has been fondly rembered by many in the Frome FM community.

Geoffrey Mackett rembered Rob as "a welcoming face as part of the original FromeFM team". Mark Besley said that "Rob put his heart and soul into Frome FM, whether that be as my co-host for Come On Let's Rock, on his own show Way Down Country, or helping out others at the station. He also ran a cracking karaoke down the Blue Boar and many other places."

Frome Town Councillor and former Mayor Andy Wrintmore similarly recalled Rob's time on the show. "When I started doing my Rock show at Frome FM Rob was co-hosting ‘Come On Let’s ROCK!’ with Mark Besley," said Andy, "and they were both so welcoming and encouraging and we all became firm friends. Rob continued to be supportive and encouraging of all my subsequent endeavours and it was always such a pleasure to bump into him out and about. Andy added that he had "recently discussed his itch to possibly return to some radio broadcasting fun." Sadly that was not to happen. Andy left "with that wonderful warm feeling you get when you’ve just had a good chinwag and a firm handshake with someone who genuinely wishes you every happiness, someone who’s warmth is apparent and nourishes the people around them. So as I’ve been thinking about Rob and all the years I’ve known him today, the word WARM continues to present itself." Concluding Andy hoped that "in your final days you felt the love and that same warmth from the deluge of well wishers that have enjoyed yours throughout the years. A lovely, lovely man."

Rupert Kirkham said of Rob that he was "always low key but with a great take on the ironies, humour and wisdom of country music."
